Privacy Policy

This policy covers personal information collected through cairnsweb.dev by Cairns Web Development. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

1. What we collect

Information you give us

When you submit the contact form, we store:

• Your name
• Your email address
• Your phone number, if you enter one
• Your business name, if you enter one
• The service and budget range you select, if any
• The message you write
• The date and time you sent it

We ask for this so we can reply to your enquiry and quote your work. Everything except name, email and message is optional.

Information collected automatically

Our web server keeps standard access logs: the IP address a request came from, the page requested, the time, and the browser's user-agent string. These exist to keep the site running and to spot abuse. They are not used to build a profile of you.

We also keep a short-lived count of submissions per IP address so the contact form cannot be flooded. It holds no message content and is discarded automatically.

What we do not collect

• No analytics or tracking scripts of any kind
• No advertising or third-party marketing pixels
• No cookies on the public website
• No payment card details are ever taken or stored on this site

2. Cookies

The public pages of this website set no cookies at all.

The private administration area at /admin sets strictly necessary cookies to keep the operator signed in and to protect against cross-site request forgery. Those cookies serve no analytics or advertising purpose and are only ever set for the site operator, not for visitors.

3. How we use your information

We use what you send us only to:

• Reply to your enquiry
• Prepare a quote and discuss your project
• Keep a record of our dealings with you if you become a client
• Meet our legal and tax record-keeping obligations

We do not send marketing emails or newsletters, and we do not add you to any mailing list.

4. Who else sees it

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. It is disclosed only:

• To our hosting provider, who stores the server this site runs on
• Where we are required to by law
• With your consent

This website is hosted on a server located in Australia. Enquiry data is not transferred overseas.

The site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser requests those font files from Google, which involves your IP address being seen by Google as part of that request. No other information is shared with them.

5. How long we keep it

• Enquiries that do not become projects: kept for up to 24 months, then deleted.
• Client records: kept for 7 years after the last transaction, as Australian tax law requires.
• Server access logs: rotated and discarded on a short cycle.

6. Security

The site is served only over HTTPS. The administration area requires two separate authentication steps, and its session ends when the browser tab is closed. Stored passwords are hashed, never kept in readable form. Access to the server is restricted to the operator.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach ever occurred that was likely to cause you serious harm, we would notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.

7. Your rights

You may at any time ask us to:

• Tell you what personal information we hold about you
• Give you a copy of it
• Correct anything that is wrong or out of date
• Delete it, where we are not required by law to keep it

8. Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first and we will try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

9. Children

This site is aimed at businesses and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

10. Changes

If this policy changes, the new version appears here with an updated date. Material changes affecting existing clients will be communicated directly.
